A Wee Break

The night of my last post, I managed to get about 30 mosquito bites on my feet, so I'm taking a short break until they calm down. I'm thinking the last thing I need is to rub and rub and rub on my feet. I've been nursing them for 2 days now. :(

3+Hills!

Today's run consists of the same golf course route, but includes a gynormous hill! I did not go the fastest by any means (just under 10:00) but it felt good, and felt stronger. I headed out earlier, at 7:25 and it helped a lot. I did not feel like I was suffocating at the end. I was up at 6:30 having coffee outside and there was a chill in the air, but that was in the shade. The sun/shade difference here is very significant!

Style/Workout: Hill Workout
Setting/Route: Admiral Baker Golf Course and big hill!
Progress: (running mileage):  3.5 today/ 16.83 this month/ 324.17 year-to-date

Golf Course Views

The huge hill was quite the challenge, but the views from the top were quite rewarding!

Three Miles of the Same

Style/Workout: Good Ol' 3-Miler
Setting/Route: Through Admiral Baker RV Park and the Golf Course
Mileage: 3 miles
Progress: (running mileage):  3 today/ 13.33 this month/ 325.67 year-to-date

Today's run was very much the same as the last one. I enjoy it here so much, even though it's hotter than my body is used to.

Today I got out to run about 45 minutes earlier-around 7:45-and it was just as warm as running at 8:30. I'm going to keep trying to get out earlier and earlier so that I can find a good time of day.

One thing I did notice is just around the bend on a different turn is a KILLER HILL. I figure I will gradually add it and by the end of the summer my butt will be lookin' good! ;)

Last but not least...and keeping with the concept of needing to hydrate and stay cool...check out my cute new water bottle!

A New 3 Miles!

Yesterday I got to run a new route! It is new and exciting because we are here in the new city that will be our home for the next 4 years: Sunny San Diego, CA!

Style/Workout: Good Ol' 3-Miler
Setting/Route: Through Admiral Baker RV Park and the Golf Course
Mileage: 3 miles
Progress: (running mileage):  3 today/ 10.33 this month/ 322.67 year-to-date

So the run wasn't anything abnormal...I walked a little to warm up and stretched some then just got going. It was nice because at the same time I was in a sense sight-seeing. It was plenty challenging, especially being 70 degrees out at 9am. I am not used to that! If I left an hour earlier, I know it would be just a tad cooler. What I love about the weather here is that it gets just hot enough to go swimming, but stays fairly cool in the shade. It is usually a bit overcast in the early morning hours but burns off around 9-10 am. It's great! So far I'm loving it!

I know I haven't logged many miles in the last 2 months, but life has been full of change! I don't intend to let my fitness lag very long. Even today I did a workout while my kids were swimming in the pool. Just laps and some legwork...and oh yeah, I got a tan while doing it! Gotta love that!

3.33 Miles

Style/Workout: Good Ol' 3-Miler
Setting/Route:  The Prom
Mileage: 3.33 miles
Progress: (running mileage):  3.33 today/ 7.33 this month/ 319.67 year-to-date

I have very little time to post this and it's from last week! So let's just say this run back felt smoother than the first one back. I enjoyed it very much as the weather was nice and there were lots of runners on the Prom from out of town. It's great to have solidarity even though I don't know these people around me.

We are moving soon, so this may have been my last run on the Prom, although I would not have known it at the time. I'm on vacation/moving preparations in San Diego right now!

More runs to log from here!

Ok...I Need a Schedule

I'm not training for anything in particular right now, but with my schedule as lax as it has been lately (summer and all...) I need something to stick to or I will get lazy as ever (umm and lumpier!).

It looks like the next event on my list (which needs to be updated) is the Coronado Sports Fiesta 10K on July 27th. We're getting ready to leave for San Diego the middle of next week. A goal of a 10K would be perfect for my life right now...no runs longer than say, 7-8 miles, and if I can run 3-4 times per week, I'll be doing really well!

So...my schedule has been made, my phone is syncing...no turning back now!

July StrideBox Review

This StrideBox came super quickly for me! Since I haven't been running, I haven't been using my June contents so unlike last month when I was ready for new stuff, at this point I have more than enough goodies to choose from! That being said, here is the July StrideBox Review blog post

In addition to the regular Stride Guide ^^^ there was also a small strip Stride Guide: Hydration for mixing directions with each of the drink mixes.

Foot Better and First Run Back!

Yay I finally got back out there to run again!

Style/Workout: First Run Back
Setting/Route:  The Prom
Mileage: 4 miles
Progress: (running mileage):  4 today/ 4 this month/ 316.34 year-to-date

Today was my first run back in 5 weeks so I took it really easy. I took walk breaks as needed and just kept going. It was busy being 4th of July and all :) At first I enjoyed all of the runners, but then I took a turn to avoid them because I just didn't feel great about my ability-yet.
