Sunday Funday

Today was the St. Patty's Day Half Marathon. I did not go. I know, I'm such a flake. Whatever. I'm over it. My family was visiting and I just did not feel right about leaving everyone for the entire morning to run a half marathon. Call me crazy but it felt selfish. So I hung out with my family, went to church, then to my two sons' soccer games then we had a great meal out together. It was perfect, and just as it should be.

I spent the soccer games sitting in the soft grass with a warm breeze and 80-degree temperatures, stretching my lotus and staff pose, along with seated twists and such. It was really nice.

Well hello there :)

It won't be long and I will be reaching my standing backbend into wheel pose!

Working on Scale Pose

Scale pose...let's put this one in the "Working On It" category. This one is a surprisingly difficult pose for me. At least it was surprising to me that I was not able to do it on my first few tries. So here is where I'm at with it. If I attempt to lift my toes off the ground, I fall forward, or my arms collapse. So I will just do a toestand for a while. Full scale pose in lotus is another one I'm working on .

On another note, I found these cute capri yoga pants with ties on the sides at Old Navy-on sale!

Just the Latest

I'm not doing too shabby in the working out department. I'm still busy as ever, but I tossed the Hal Higdon training plan (no offense, but I need a personalized plan), and I made out one of my own that includes running, rest, yoga and cross training (preferably hiking).

I ran 6 on Monday that wasn't my fastest, but wasn't too bad either. My legs paid for it for 2 days. I don't know why I get so sore after runs. I assume it is because I just need to run more often. I've gotten some yoga in and I purchased a Groupon for a studio near where I work in Pacific Beach. I'm really looking forward to taking some studio classes!

I asked my husband to take a few yoga poses and this is where he started.

Half Moon Pose-I love this arm placement, much more natural to me than down the L leg

A beautiful and slow run

Beautiful scenery on today's run
Today I packed my stuff to run after work. I have not been running as much lately because I just have so little time! If I can squeeze 3 runs in per week, I'm happy. Tonight I almost talked myself out of a run because I was so spent after work. But I knew it would be a good way to wind down, enjoy Mission Bay and I told myself "No Pressure". I walked more than usual during this 3-miler because I was very tired, but I enjoyed watching the sunset.

Just a few minutes of yoga...

...is better than no yoga.

My versions of compass pose aren't perfect, but yoga is not supposed to be perfect. It is supposed to be what your body can do.

And as a sidenote, I had thrown on my boot socks over my yoga leggings because we sat outside to watch a movie and it was cold. It was cute too. But I don't think any kind of covering on your feet is comfortable in yoga. Must have bare feet in my opinion.

Just another Wednesday

Holy Moly I have been so sore since Monday's workout! The lunges always kill my legs! Yesterday I worked and today I met a friend for lunch and sightseeing. Thankfully we did a lot of walking then I did some yoga in the evening. I am participating in a March Yoga Challenge so I took this photo of my "cheat" split (soft surface is easier)

4 1/4 Miles and Yoga to start March!

Well technically the start of March was yesterday but...today was my start :)

Today's run was a sunny/rainy run and although I felt tired most of the time I still enjoyed my time on the road. I sure haven't been running as much as I'd like. I just don't have as much time! And yes, when it is important you make time, but if I'm going to spend any time at all with my family and ever get any sleep then I have extremely little time to run. But life is good. It's weirdly rainy, thunderstormy, with patches of sun today. I live in the desert so this is very uncommon-yet very welcomed weather! Everything is so beautiful and green.

The landscape where I live
After my cleansing run I did my driveway plyo series then headed inside for some yoga. My hamstrings are crazy tight at their insertion point into my hips. Plus I started a march yoga challenge so I wanted to actually stick to it and post a picture each day on Instagram. It keeps me motivated.

Where I'm at with King Dancer...I'm so happy to have discovered the yoga strap! I have a ways to go with back flexibility and shoulder rotation. But I'll keep working on it!
