July StrideBox Review

This StrideBox came super quickly for me! Since I haven't been running, I haven't been using my June contents so unlike last month when I was ready for new stuff, at this point I have more than enough goodies to choose from! That being said, here is the July StrideBox Review blog post

In addition to the regular Stride Guide ^^^ there was also a small strip Stride Guide: Hydration for mixing directions with each of the drink mixes.

  1. Nuun Electrolyte Drink Tablets: Grape

I can totally see why these are so hot on the market with runners these days. They are yummy! I love how fizzy they are. I could easily see myself buying these instead of Propel or some other electrolyte drink in the future.

  2. Zym Catapult Sport Drink Tablet: Berry Flavor

I liked the taste and the 'no sugar' trait to this drink tablet, but I didn't see anything more unique than any other drink tablet. It was tasty though!

  3. StrideBox Water Bottle:

Very basic water bottle with fluid measurements along the side (handy!). I actually like the pop up tab-style mouth piece too...it makes it easy to pour liquid out, and there is no energy expended to drink out of it when you are really thirsty!

  4. Healthy To Go! Acai Energy Drink Mix: I did not like this drink mix for 2 reasons...lack of taste (sour/watered down) and the fact that it just didn't dissolve very well. No matter how much I shook my water bottle, there were chunks floating around. Not great in my book.

  5. HDX Hydration Mix: Grape Flavor:

I mixed this up for my husband yesterday for after his 25 mile ride here in sunny San Diego. I have to admit, I'm just over powdered mixes. They clump and you have to mix and mix and mix, and even then you get clumps in your drink. This mix was no different unfortunately. The drink tablets have officially spoiled me, and I don't think I'm going back!

  6. Bearded Brothers- Natural Energy Bar: Fabulous Ginger Peach

I really want to like these bars...after all they involve only natural ingredients, only a few ingredients and all are recognizable (organic dates, organic almonds, organic walnuts, organic dried peaches, organic fresh pressed ginger, organic chia seeds, sea salt). They don't involve any grains which is great for those folks who are going Paleo. That being said, I only kind of liked the taste/texture. I think there was just too much ginger for my taste which overpowered the other sweet tastes.

  7. GU Brew Electrolyte Tablet: Tri-Berry:

Loved it! Dissolving tablet, tasted great, works for 16 oz of water...what's not to love?! The only thing I noticed was that there was quite the extensive ingredient list, including stevia and artificial colors...I guess a lot of them probably have those though

  8. Vega Sport Electrolyte Hydrator Mix-Lemon-Lime:

Pretty good mix! It tasted good and actually dissolved pretty well. And keeping on the topic of ingredients on my last comment, this one only had 5 (stevia was one of them)

  9. PR*Bar Nutrition Bar: Apple Pie flavor: Yum! This is definitely a nutrition bar I could see myself buying regularly. 200 calories, 60 calories from fat, 17 g of sugar, 15 g of protein, 6 g of fat. Nutrition Facts get a C or maybe B+ in my book, mostly because it is high-ish in sugar, fat and calories. It is high in protein though, which is great for helping you feel full longer and controlling blood sugar.
